AE.002. Designing for Peace. CEDIMWithin our contemporary urban and sociocultural context, the notions of security and peace oscillate between two extremes: on one side, excessively fortified architectures, and on the other, withdrawal into personal seclusion. Designing for Peace: Inner Peace/Piece is the outcome of a three-week intensive workshop led by Rodolfo Agrella at CEDIM in Monterrey, Mexico, as part of the World Class Educators program that seeks to articulate a bridge between these poles by developing a system of surfaces that offers a phenomenological response to the sense of security and the pursuit of personal peace. The workshop adopts a playful yet rigorous approach, using graphic and spatial strategies to reinterpret the enclosure not merely as a boundary, but as a protective gesture reimagined through the lens of industrial design.
